In November 2023, Youth Rising and our parent organisation Rising Tide organised and ran the largest act of civil disobedience in Australian history: the 2023 People's Blockade.

For 30 hours we blockaded the largest coal port in the world, the Port of Newcastle.

After the 30 hours we were allowed had ended, over 100 people stayed in the water with the intention of being arrested to further generate publicity for the event and draw more attention to the issue of climate change.

The blockade prevented about 500,000 tons of coal from being shipped.
